Q:

I am the Manager of Investigations for a major corporation. I manage a team of seven and we handle investigations and serious incidents for the company. I want to increase my opportunity for career advancement within my company or externally, by earning a Master's degree in either Security Management or Incident Management. Which of those two degree tracks do you think has more opportunity?

a:

Both are good tracks but you may find more opportunity focusing on Incident Management. It is very much in demand and there are fewer job seekers who are truly trained and fully qualified in incident response and management. The security management arena, on the other hand, has something of an oversupply of talent at present. This is in part because so many people are leaving public sector law enforcement roles because they have enough years of service and are able to retire.
